Bcc: in search of cures
a collaborative correspondence art in the pandemic
With support from The Japan Foundation, Manila @jfmanila, we are working with artists based in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan.
BCC is a collaborative process-oriented art program facilitating e-mail exchanges between artists and audience-participants during the current pandemic. It attempts to discover remedies in the mundane to bridge these divides, perhaps congruences, through imagery and objects. These are more likely about experiences, adjustments, self-confrontation, and collaborative healing which stems from one’s life and disposition.
The program title is lifted from the concept of bcc in e-mail exchanges where the third group of non-disclosed recipients is within reach. It has been a common practice to utilize this function to address confidentiality among recipients or incognito. The identities of the artists are withheld until the program’s concluding activity.
